Created from an original mixed-media piece using acrylic spray paint and precision paint pens, this artwork brings a clean yet gritty aesthetic to one of the West Coast's favorite offshore gamefish. The design showcases a powerful Yellowtail with its mouth open as it aggressively pursues baitfish, highlighting its streamlined body, distinctive golden stripe, and the deep blue and emerald tones of the Pacific.
An essential piece of coastal decor for coastal anglers, spearfishers, and anyone who loves chasing hard-fighting gamefish along the California coast and Baja.
Known to Southern California and Baja anglers as the ultimate blue-water street fighter, the California Yellowtail is legendary pound-for-pound.
The Kelp Forest Gladiator: Yellowtail are famous for their explosive, high-velocity strikes. The moment they hit a surface iron or live bait, they immediately try to dive straight back into the heavy kelp fronds or rocky reefs to break your line.
The Signature Gold Stripe: Their unmistakable bright brass-gold lateral stripe runs cleanly along their flanks, contrasting perfectly against an iridescent olive-emerald spine. This striking pattern flashes brilliantly in the water as they school up and corral baitfish.
A Hard-Fighting Prize: Yellowtail are incredibly strong, muscular pelagic predators—a trophy "mossback" over 30 pounds is highly respected by sportfishermen for its relentless endurance and blistering, reel-peeling runs.
Our prints are meticulously produced to replicate the heavy textures and fine lines of the original mixed-media piece, ensuring the vibrant blues and sharp contrast stay beautiful for years to come.
